Ealing Council wants views on a new town centre around Perivale station, the only one of its seven towns without one. The survey closes on 18 December.
Ealing Council has opened an eight-week survey on what a town centre for Perivale should contain. It closes on Friday 18 December.
The council says Perivale is the only one of the borough’s seven towns without a clearly defined town centre. The plans would be built around Perivale station. Nothing has been drawn up yet, and the council says no decisions have been made.
The consultation was announced on the council’s news site on Friday 23 October. The survey itself is on the council’s Heart of Perivale page.
What the council is asking
The survey is the first of three rounds. The council wants to know what residents, businesses and community groups would like to see, before it draws up any options.
Councillor Monica Hamidi, the cabinet member for good growth, listed the kinds of thing people might raise:
- better green spaces
- new community facilities
- more homes
- improved connections
“Residents have said they want better facilities, more things to do, and places where people can come together,” she said. “No decisions have been made, and we are at the start of the conversation.”
The council says earlier conversations with more than 400 residents found strong support for change. It has not published what those residents said.
The timetable
The project page sets out three stages. Each is listed with online and in-person activities.
| Stage | Dates | What happens |
|---|---|---|
| Early conversations | 22 October to 18 December 2026 | Survey on priorities, issues and opportunities |
| Exploring the options | 15 February to 22 March 2027 | How feedback has been used, and possible ideas |
| Shaping the proposal | 26 April to 28 May 2027 | Discussion of the emerging proposal |
The council says a set of findings from this first round will be shared with residents in 2027. It will also hold drop-in events and workshops, and meet some local organisations directly. People can register for the events through the council’s announcement. No event dates were listed on the project page when we checked on 26 October.
A second pot for the high streets
The survey opened three days after the council launched a separate £1.4 million Thriving Towns programme for high streets in all seven towns. Applications from businesses and business groups for improvement grants are open until midday on 30 November, according to the project page. The council has not published how much any single grant can be.
What it means for you
If you live or work in Perivale, this is the stage where you can shape what gets proposed, rather than react to a plan. The survey is short and online. Answers given now feed the options the council brings back in February.
If you run a shop or business anywhere in the borough, the Thriving Towns deadline of 30 November comes first.
